Straight answers on solar, batteries and rebates in Queensland
It depends on your roof, your power use and the gear that suits you, so we don't quote blind. The federal STC rebate is taken off your quote upfront. On a typical 6.6 kW system installed in South East Queensland in 2026, it's usually around $1,700 to $1,800. Our free Bill Check gives you a realistic, tailored figure.
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program gives a discount of around 30% on eligible batteries connected to new or existing solar. For example, a 13.5 kWh battery installed before the end of 2026 is worth roughly $3,600, depending on the certificate price. The discount steps down every six months, with the next change on 1 January 2027. Queensland has no state battery rebate at the moment.
No. Solar works fine on its own and is usually the best first step. A battery makes sense if you use a lot of power at night, get a low feed-in tariff, or want backup during outages. We'll tell you honestly whether it's worth it for you.
Standard solar switches off during a blackout for safety. To keep the lights on, you need a battery and inverter with backup set up, either for essential circuits or the whole home. We'll walk you through the options.
Most home solar or battery installs are done in a day or two. Before that, your network needs to approve the connection (Energex in South East Queensland, Ergon in regional Queensland). We handle all the forms for you, plus the STC rebate claim.
Yes, but be careful. Under the Solar Bonus Scheme rules, adding a battery that can export to the grid or run at the same time as your solar can cost you the 44c tariff, as can upsizing your inverter. We'll check your setup before recommending anything.
Yes. NERGY Electrical is fully licensed in Queensland and New South Wales, and our solar and battery systems are designed and installed by a CEC accredited installer. That means your system meets Australian Standards and qualifies for the federal STC and battery rebates.
